Betcha wonder how he's doing???

Yeah, I thought so.

Jack is MUCH better and even went back to daycare today. Jay actually had to wake him up which is a good sign and he slept completely through the night again so I think he's all better. His bumps are still healing and flaking off and I think they will be gone by this weekend. I think his fair skin makes them look worse than they normally are.

Unfortunately, Hand Foot and Mouth has claimed another victim.
Jay.
Yes, Jay got it.
What's that you say??? Adults rarely get it becuase most of them develop the antibodies to resist the virus......well not Jay. He got it.

He stayed home with him all week and of course Jack sneezed, coughed and drooled on him. Would you like to take a guess how this is spread??? Yup, lucky Jay.

He had a slight fever last night but we stayed in complete denial about what was actually happening. This morning, after I got out of the shower, he informed me that he wasn't going to work and that he thinks he got it. He had spots on his face, hands and feet. I had to rush to get ready, get Jack to daycare and get to work myself all in the time it would normally take me to get to work. Not sure how on earth I got to work on time but I did.

We thought that he might have chicken pox since the sores didn't really look the same so after informing him that if he did he'd be staying at his mothers if it was in fact chickenpox. I've read that if you have chicken pox to late or to early that you don't build up an immunity to it like the rest of us did. He went to the doctor and it was confirmed that he did have Hand Foot and Mouth disease. The PA said that most other patients bore her but he comes in with the good stuff and keeps it interesting. I'm not a fan of doctors (most...I do like Darrin), I don't like taking pills and I don't like being sick so of course I made sure that Jay was not going to give it to me. Luckily they doubt I'll get it.

Jay says that his hands and feet feel like every nerve is exposed. He is just uncomfortable and in pain but not a kind of pain that pain killers will take care of. The worst part is that he knows what's coming and he knows that Friday will most likely be the worst day as far as pain goes. If he doesn't answer his phone or respond to emails for a few days it's becuase it hurts to type.

Here are some more pictures of Jack. His bumps are a little better today but they are drying out which is a good sign.

Sick little man

I received a call on Friday about 2:30 to come get Jack from daycare. When I got there I was told that he had a fever of 101.5, which I thought was really unusual because he'd felt fine that morning, but now had dots on him. My first thought was that it's chicken pox and thought, great! I'd much rather him get chicken pox this young (although it's still dangerous at this age) than wait til he's a toddler or older. Turns out the two infant rooms have had a outbreak of Hand, Foot, and Mouth disease and Jack is its latest victim. Luckily for some of the babies who are out on spring break they might not get it. Our daycare is very good about sterilizing and cleaning everything but with something that is transmitted via saliva and drooling babies it just happens.

Here are some pictures Jay took today of little man. He's rocking diaper time so you get to see our growing boy.

You can see some of the blisters around his mouth in these pictures. He's got a few in his mouth and on his tongue. We were told to use liquid antacid , think Maalox, and administer 1/2 tsp and coat his gums as much as you can and that will help the mouth pain. I would never guess that antacid would work but it's the only thing that does and he'll eat after so we're using it a few times a day but being careful not to do it too often.

Since I'm in the middle of a testing cycle Jay will be staying home and taking care of Jack this week. We were told that it could only be 3 days or could last as long as 7 days. He's in decent spirits and not running a fever which is a good sign. He's needy and is napping much more than he normally does but your body repairs when it sleeps so sleep little man, sleep.

Jay is going to take some more pictures to better show the rash that's developing over him tomorrow.

Jack is famous!

Well not really....but he kinda is because he's mine.

Jay took off work early and took Jack to visit Grandma at work. He got to go onto the set of our local news station after flirting with some of the sales girls and newscasters.

I think he may have a future in promotions if he ever wants one. He smiled at any mention of him being used for station advertisements.

Next time we'll have to get him on the green screen to do the weather or behind the sports desk flashing his hook 'em horns!

He kept staring at the lights. He likes lights.

Toothless Wonder…..no more.

Can you guess what happened? Yup, that’s right. Jack got his first tooth. Actually, he got two teeth at the same time. Hey, this kid defiantly takes after me……If you’re going to do something big then do it big.

He defiantly didn’t have anything the Tuesday night when he was gnawing on us because we would have felt it. Jay didn’t feel anything Wednesday morning while getting him ready but when he picked him up from daycare the teachers told him that Jack had two teeth. I think they were kind of worried about telling us since it happened at daycare and not in front of us. I’m pretty sure Jay was shocked because he hasn’t been fussy at all. He’s actually been a dream to be around. We figured since he is such a moody kid that we’d know for DAYS that something was going on (there have been several false alarms so we’ve got plenty of teething toys and Motrin for the pain). Jack had fallen asleep on the way home from daycare so Jay put him in his room and came and told me. I was just shocked. Sure enough after he woke up I stuck my finger in his mouth and felt two teeth. They are barely there but they are there. I don’t know if we are going to be able to get a picture for a bit because he sticks his tongue out and covers it every time we open his mouth. Jay will have to work some fancy camera skills while I get him to giggle to get one.

No word on if they are straight or not but knowing my history I can see some pretty big orthodontic bills in my future.

Where did we go?

Betcha your wondering where we've been? Well...actually no where. I know we're boring.

Since returning back to work last week and having computer problems I haven't been able to post. We're going to buy a new computer this week but until then I have to do everything from work and I try and not do much personal stuff while I'm here.

BTW, I pink puffy heart my new job. Love everybody I work with. Love my boss. Love everything. Who knew I'd like working in the oil industry so much. Who knew they needed QA people so much in the oil industry. The only thing I don't like is that now I have to be here at 8am and everybody know how much I loath mornings.

Anywa,y Jay got a new camera so there are tons of new pictures and I'm hoping to update by the end of this week.
