6 month stats

I took Jack to the doctor today for his 2 week follow up of his bronchilitus. Good news is that he's completely clear off all the breathing treatments. His chest looks great and there is no more wheezing. We need to keep the breathing machine and medication in case he has another episode but the doctor left it up to me to give it to him as needed. There are fires in Mexico this time of year so the smoke could set it off again but we'll make sure and take every precaution when the smoke gets here. He also got his six month vaccines and the first half of the flu shot. I won't let him get any shots when he's sick which is why we waited so long for this round. I've got a friend who's son had an unfortunate reaction to a vaccine while he had a fever and I just can't take the chance. We have no idea if the fever and the vaccine combo caused his reaction but I'd rather be safe than sorry.

Our little big man is
21.8lbs

28 inches long

That makes him off the charts for weight and in the 90% for his height.

Can you believe that he weighed just 6lbs and 15oz when he was born?

****I will take the official 6 month picture tomorrow************

He has a binky obsession

I've been told that I had a thing for my binkys. I've been told I use to sleep with one in each hand and one in my mouth. I guess I liked variety even as a baby.

I think Jack might be taking after me.

We don't encourage it but there are a couple on his playmat and he always picks them up and puts them in his mouth or plays with them for a while.

I can only imagine what my mother went through to break me of the binky habit. I have a feeling we'll be going through it too.

I got a JOB!

I realize this is suppose to be a blog about Jack but I write it so this post is going to be about me.

I got a JOB! I got a JOB! I got a JOB!
I got a JOB! I got a JOB! I got a JOB!
I got a JOB! I got a JOB! I got a JOB!
I got a JOB! I got a JOB! I got a JOB!
I got a JOB! I got a JOB! I got a JOB!

Did I tell you I got a job?

I almost didn't apply for this job becuase they paid to much and I thought I'd never get it. After some editing of my resume and a few phone calls from the recruiter a phone interview was set up. Thankfully the manager was traveling and couldn't make our phone interview and converted it to a face to face interview. I hate phone interviews. I'm terrible on the phone which I'm sure is a product of being on a computer all the time. I'm awkward to say the least and I have horrible reception at my house so the interview never seems to go well. I also second guess myself a lot. Plus I can read people fairly well and I simply can't read their faces over the phone.

Anyway, I arrived at the interview today and was told it was a panel interview which means it's in front of 4 people who are usually team members or key components of my team. I've had panel interviews that last 20 minutes and I've had them last for 4 hours and have gone both ways, they can be grueling. I guess they liked me and liked my answers becuase I got a call from the recruiter later in the day because they wanted to offer me the job. I gladly accepted and did my happy dance in the kitchen. I called Jay as soon as I got off the phone and blurted out that I'd gotten an offer. I was glad he actually answered becuase he's usually to busy to answer his phone and I don't like calling him for stupid reasons. He's busy and I doubt he needs to hear from me during the day asking what time he's going to be home and what he wants for dinner. Luckily it was towards the end of the day and he was close to packing up. He may or may have done a happy dance in his office too.

Jay got home and we went out to dinner to celebrate. Jack was of course thrilled and was the hit of the waitstaff.

I start work on Tuesday since Monday is a holiday. I am really excited to be going back to work. I'm just not the stay at home type. Although I think Dexter is going to miss mommy and Dexter play time. It's kinda far from the house but still manageable and I've driven farther. I might regret buying an SUV when gas prices go up this summer though. I don't think the drive will be a big deal since I'll be going a different direction than traffic. We never took Jack out of daycare so thankfully I don't have to rush around trying to find a place for him. That daycare has been one of the best decisions we've made.

Now the next couple of days will be spent running around Austin trying to finish my errands and get ready for work. I will actually need makeup since I haven't been wearing it consistently for the last year it's dwindled to the bare minimum. And clothes....I don't think my jeans and t-shirts are going to cut it in this office like they did at Powered. I haven't had to buy nice office clothes in over a year due to pregnancy and being out of work after Jack came. I can't wait to go shopping and I can't wait for Tuesday.

Jack's first wedding

Don't worry...we didn't marry him off yet.

Although I think the bride might have wanted to run off with him after seeing him in his suit.

Yes, I said that right. In his suit. I was lucky enough to find a super cute suit the week before we went. I think he looks adorable in his tie and vest.

He was all smiles the entire day and even though the ceremony was directly in the middle of his nap time, unfortunately he just couldn't stay awake through the ceremony and drifted off to sleep without a peep right before communion. The priest smiled and blessed him anyway. I guess babies are the only ones who get to sleep through church.

The bride hired a few babysitters for the reception so he got to hang out with a few of the kids. He did meet a really cute girl (and I'm not sure but he just might have gotten her number). We went to go check on him a few times and the last time found him sound asleep with the grandmas watching over him. He was in a very safe and loving hands. They loved taking care of him for the short time they got to help out.

It does snow in Texas

I know! Can you believe it? It snowed. Well......it snowed for Austin.

I'll admit that it snowed last year and it fell a lot harder and stayed for a lot longer. I'll also admit that I didn't get any pictures of it so you'll just have to settle with the great snow of February 2011.

Our cars. For some reason Jay thought he was driving into work that day. Texans do many things well like BBQ, country dancing and we also do 100 degree days VERY well; one thing we don't do very well is driving in the rain and the snow/ice. Hence our cars didn't leave the driveway.

I think Dexter was in heaven. He finally blended in.

Has anybody seen my dog?

He loved digging around in the snow.

And then Dexter ran around the house a few times.

But he always watches out for his family like a good German Sheppard dog should do.

And yes, even though it snowed in Austin it was 60 the next day and I wore a short sleeve shirt outside. So the moral of the story is that it never snows in Austin that long.
Also, we didn't take Jack outside for some snow becuase he's been fighting a fever and a terrible cough so we didn't want to risk it.

We have a sitter

It seems like I'm always late at writing this but we officially have a sitter. Jack has been so close for a while but just couldn't get past the 1 minute mark without being supported. On Thursday January 27th I was playing with him on his play mat and realized I wasn't catching him anymore. Jay was finishing working and noticed it too.

Can it really be?

I took this picture on February 3, 2011. He was watching Mickeys Clubhouse while I got his bottles ready to take to daycare. Yes, I let him watch Mickeys Clubhouse but it's the only show he loves (besides football, Victorias Secret commercials and the Shape Up's commercials.)
He's growing up so fast.

(Disregard the boxes in the background, I'm cleaning out his closet and putting the clothes in storage)

He just loves sitting and playing with all the big kids at daycare. He loves all his toys at home and stares at them from a completely new angle.
