Happy New Year!

I can't believe it's 2011. Seems like just yesterday that it was 2000. Time flies.

We started Jack on solids and he took to it like it was nothing. As one of his daycare teachers says "A baby that likes to eat as much as Jack will figure out how to eat something new"

Isn't he cute!!!! He was killing Jays OCD.

From First solid food

Apparently it was finger licking good.

From First solid food

Here is a video of him enjoying his first taste of sweet potatoes. He's a real Texas boy and already likes them.

He's not a big fan of peas but he ate them so at least he's polite about it. I think his face says it all.

Jacks first Christmas!

Jack's first Christmas was a complete success! This kid cleaned up for being a 4 month old. He even opened a few of his own gifts, which was adorable by the way.

From Santa he got a high chair, but thankfully Santa was able to let mom and dad know that he was getting it so they could have some toys ready for him to play with (which he loved). We finally found something he looks small in again.

From Christmas Morning

Mom got him some bath puppets, toys, and I even found him his first Notre Dame textbook and a Notre Dame DVD. He also got his first bowl set from his Godfather, Josh. We'll disregard that it's from LSU but I did let him know that Jack would be wearing his purple and yellow for the big game against ATM in a few weeks. We also got him some dishes because we're about to start him on solids. He got his first set of spoons from grandpa and grandma when they were here earlier this month.

Dad bought him an extra special gift. He was able to find him his first baseball hat, which he got in both Notre Dame and UT. He'll definitely be styling this year.

Jack took a good nap and then we headed down to Grammy's house for Christmas dinner and for more presents for the little man. He cleand up there too. Grammy got him some jammies, more toys, rattles and lots of kisses. He was pretty proud of the special presents he picked out for her. He made sure to get her a figurine that she'd been wanting. He also got a her a grandma necklace and an ornament for her tree.

And because I write the blog here is another cute picture.

A few new videos

Jack's decided that he is taking after his dad and blabbers and blabbers all day long. Interesting fact: He loves football and even blabbers to the players and referees when they do something stupid. He's also decided he's going to be a morning person even though I've begged him to sleep till at least 8:30 AM. He's up at 6:30 for the day ready to rock and roll. Anybody that knows me is more than aware he didn't get that trait from my side. Pretty soon he'll start saying dada, mama and the famous "no" and "why" and then we'll wish he was back to blabbering, smiling, and cooing.

Jack meets somebody special

I can't believe I forgot to post this! Ugh, I'm so behind.

Jack met somebody very special recently. He's jolly and brings presents and I think Jack knew that he needed to be nice to this guy.

That's right, Jack met SANTA! When I handed him over to Santa he got the biggest smile on his face.

4 Months Old!

That's right everybody, he's 4 months old. Can you believe it? We can't.

Here's a little known fact: I've officially kept him alive longer than any plant I've ever had, cacti included. I'm sure Jay has had a little to do with that but you know what I mean.

I took him to the doctor on Thursday for his 4 month well baby check and his 2nd round of vaccinations. BTW, he took those like a champ and no reactions as of today. You ready for the stats? You sure? Ok here goes.

Big man is....
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
18lbs and 4oz. No joke.

He's also 25 inches long.

That's right he's our big man. He's pretty much grown out of most of his 3-6 month clothes and sailing right into his 6-9 stuff. Jay is still holding hope that a few of his favorites fit but I think he's finally realizing that Jack is done with them. His reflux medicine was adjusted based on his weight and the doctor said that it should greatly improve once he can sit up in the next couple of months and we probably won't need to increase the dosage at 6 months.

We've had a rough day so I'll take the official 4 month picture in the next couple of days. Jay and I think he's going through a growth spurt because he's been eating every 2 hours again, crying almost consistantly and going through diapers (due to eating so much) like they're going out of style.

What a difference a mere 98 days makes

I can't believe how much Jack has changed in such a short time. He was so tiny at only 6lbs and 15oz and seemingly so fragile when he was born. I was convinced (hoping) he was 40lbs since I'd gained so much weight. And now, he's a big and tough infant.

He loves raspberries on his tummy, being tickled, looking in the mirror at himself and then getting shy, seeing new places, and licks from Dexter. He's trying to sit up, sleeps almost 12 hours most nights, and loves holding daddy's hand in the car while he's trying to drive.

I received an email from Grandma Susan with this picture, I wish I could take credit but I can't. Thanks for the comparison!

Grandpa & Grandma are vising!

Grandma & Grandpa made the trip all the way from New Your to visit Jack. This will be their second visit to see him in his 4 short months.

The last time they came down to see him he was about 10 days old and we were still in the "I'm never going to sleep again" stage. We also discovered that he had reflux the week after they left so he was kinda fussy when they were here. I think he's changed a bit in 4 months.

Thanks to Susan for taking this picture. I looked horrible but I'd also had a baby 10 days prior and a less than easy recovery.

Does Dexter ever take a bad picture?

I also want to note that he was probably just about 7lbs and 5oz in this picture and now he's 17lbs and 10 oz of cuteness. Big Man!

I have no idea what the weekend will bring but I'll post pictures next weekend.

Big Man!

Ummm, soooooo remember that small little thing I gave birth to? That little thing that barely fit into newborn sizes. That itty bitty thing who didn't want to eat for a week becuase of his reflux? Me, not so much since he's living up to his nickname.

Ready for this???

He's 17lbs and 10ounces! Yes, that's right people, my sweet little man is a sweet big man.

His 4 month appointment is in a few weeks so we'll find out his "official" weight and height again then. I'm uber curious to find out how much he'll put on in just a few weeks.

Look who's cooing!

Look who's cooing...

Or not in this case...

Kids always surprise...

And finally, something a little different. Stimpy, somewhat surprisingly, let Jack pet him for a bit

He speaks!

I've come to realize that we'll never have a quiet house ever again because Jack's become quite vocal lately. He'll babble for hours and hours, he's definitetly Jay's son because he just loves to hear himself talk.

This was taken Monday November 22, 2010. He wasn't quite happy but wasn't quite pissed yet (but he was getting there).

I wish I knew what he was thinking. He seems like he's upset and then talks himself out of getting upset, and then gets upset again and then talks himself back down. It's adorable but then again I think everything my kid does is adorable.

Next up....the poop face.

3 Months old!

OMG! I have a 3 month old.

Yes, I realize I'm posting this a few days late but again....I have a 3 month old.

He's adorable and he definitely has my moody personality. I'm also pretty sure he's inherited my sleeping habits. Can babies have insomnia? Whoever said, "I slept like a baby last night," obviously meant they were up every couple hours because they were hungry, needed to pee, or they just wanted their binky back.

I think his smiles say it all.

From 3 Months Old

He also likes sucking on his lower lip. Don't ask me why but I guess it tastes good?

Hell hath no fury like an infant with diaper rash

I guess we've reached our first milestone? We've had our first diaper rash and let me tell you, it was a doozie. Being my son he's taking after me and saying if you're going to do something, then do it big!

After battling diarrhea for three weeks I guess his butt just couldn't take it anymore. It definitely wasn't there Thursday morning, or that we could see, so it must have started appearing Thursday while he was playing at daycare. They had to call me to come get him, poor little guy. You could tell just by looking at him how uncomfortable he was. They didn't realize that he had a tube of cream up there because it was in the back so it got worse all day due to no treatment. I got him home and slathered his butt with as much as it would take and I think just doing that was a relief. We made sure to change his diapers as much as possible and slather his butt with cream each time. Jay was able to find some some treatments online that seemed to help others so we said: "We might as well try it". Our weekend was filled with baking soda baths which help neutralize everything. After his baths we let him air dry for as long as he'd take tummy time. It was his first free balling experience he'd had and I think he enjoyed it but we were worried that he'd leave us a present and we weren't prepared for that just yet. Friday Jay stayed home with him since he couldn't be at daycare. He wasn't able to be held normally so he pretty much was in his daycare hold all day and whiny because he was in pain. Starting Thursday night he woke up all the time because his butt hurt so much. It's gotten better each day because Jay was was so vigilant about the cream and diaper changes all weekend. I really think those baking soda baths cut his healing time in half.

Saturday he was still on the mend but still hurting. Sunday we officially had our happy baby back. He still has a small rash but it's no where near what it was and it should be gone by tonight as long as daycare puts cream on it.

Here is proof that we have our happy baby back. Jay took this Sunday morning while Jack was wearing his Texans shirt. This smile is going to get him out of so much trouble when he gets older.

Happy Halloween!!!

Jack wants everybody to know that he's been going to the gym and getting in shape for the "Ladies". Since he's got a girlfriend or two at daycare he needs to look his best at all times so he's been hitting the weights and drinking a few protein shakes to look good.

From Happy Halloween

He's even examining his chest to make sure it still looks good.

We handed out candy Halloween night and he was the hit of the block.

We're in trouble. He's got my personality.

I should be glad that I didn't have a girl. Don't get me wrong, I would have loved a girl just as much as Jack. However, he's totally got my personality. Every bit of it. I don't know yet if that's a good thing or not.

He's going to be stubborn, always right, opinionated and if genetics hold true then he'll be a terrible speller with terrible teeth. Yes, being a terrible speller is a genetic trait. I swear my parents could have bought a Mercedes for what they spent on my teeth. In fact I think my dad got rid of his and drove demo cars so I'm probably right (see proof #2)

Want to know how I know that he already has my personality?

The proof! Can't you just see him saying "I'm only going to give you a half smile and you'll take it and like it"

He also turns bright red after crying and/or sneezing a lot.

We are in soooo much trouble when he gets to the dating stage. Is it possible to put a GPS chip in him now so he'll never know we know, know what I mean?

Have you ever seen "The Exorcist"?

Because I think he lives here.

For the last two weeks Jack has had diarrhea. Yes, it's 2 weeks now and yes we've been to the doctor, we're not that bad of parents. The first time they took cultures and the tests came back with nothing. This time we have to take cultures in (YUCK!). He's never had a fever and he's gaining weight so the doctor isn't really worried that it's something major. If he'd been losing weight we'd be at Dell Childrens Hospital. Both Jay and I will appologize to him when he gets older for getting our stomachs; which are not the greatest.

The day he got his shots (Tuesday, October 12th) he was 13lbs 10oz.

Our last appointment (Saturday, October 16th) he was 14lbs 3oz.

Today he's 14lbs 13oz!

So for all you math whizzes out there he's gaining 9-10oz per week. He's got the imput output thing down and we don't feel so bad for our backs killing us. He's no longer little man but big man!

The doctor also put him on a special formula. He's now enjoying Similac Isomil DF.

It's made for babies with diarrhea and it's soy, which I'm sure it tastes wonderful. I'm really glad I didn't go out and spend a bunch of money on formula this weekend just to replace it with this stuff becuase it's not cheap. The doctor said that after 2 weeks of being normal we can go back to our regular stuff. It's also only available in ready to drink which makes his 5oz easier to measure and becuase it's ready to drink it's also probably sweeter. It's going to be a pain to switch him back. Would you want to go from chocolate milk to water?

Somebody has a girlfriend

Is 2.5 months too young to date? That's right, little man already has a girlfriend which isn't suprising given how cute he is! All he had to to do was flash that smile and she probably melted.

Jay picked Jack up from daycare yesterday and he was sitting in a rocker facing a little girl, who was in an exercauser, and they were cooing and waving their arms at each other. Her name is Ella and she's about 2 months older than him. Jay says she's definitely the cutest girl in his room. It looks like he's already taking after daddy and going for the slightly older woman.

What makes it even cuter is that when Jay dropped him off at daycare this morning she was being fed and Jack started crying becuase he wanted to be held by the ladies in his room. They just had to look over at him and say, "Let me finish letting her eat" (his gf), and Jack looks over and stops crying as if to say, "Oh ok, since it's her I'll wait". He's such a little stinker.

I'm ok with him dating right now but I hope I don't need to have "the talk" with him anytime soon. It's just to soon for them to share a crib.

Pumpkin Patch

Jack had his first visit to the pumpkin patch today. He wasn't to thrilled with being put down but he was all smiles when we were holding him.

Be prepared for cuteness becuase here's a solo shot of little man.

And I think this face just says it all. Apparently it was time to go home for a nap and to watch some football.

First day at work

That's right everybody I'm back at a new job so I'll finally have time to update the blog on what we've been up to.

Lots of things have been going on with us. Soon you'll see pictures of Jack at the pumpkin patch, playing with his new toys and him just being cute.

He got his 2 month shots on October 12. He's been fighting being sick since then but hasn't let it get to him. He's still a smiley sweet baby.

You'll soon see a bunch of updates so stay tuned. I'll post pictures and stats when I can.

Enjoy the cuteness that's about to follow.

2 Month Shots & Doctors Visits

Little man isn't so liitle anymore. Jack had his 2 month appointment on October 12 and weighed 13 lbs 10 oz! He's getting to be such a big boy, I'm not sure where these last 2 months went. Wasn't it just last week I was at my wits end and thought I was a terrible mother beucase he had acid reflux and I didn't know it? Little man isn't so little anymore. He was such a champ and even flirted with the nurses and flashed a huge smile at the doctor. I think we're going to be in trouble when he gets older. I can already picture him chasing the girls around the daycare playgroud.
Doc thought he looked great (of course) answered our questions and sent the nurse in to give the shots which he took like a champ. He cried but settled down shortly after she was done and was back to smiling and flirting with mommy.

He was pretty sleepy the rest of the day but woke up with a vengance about the time Jay came home. Thankgoodness he never had a fever but you would think that somebody replaced my sweet little man with a draggon. We made sure to put him to bed an hour early and he slept like a champ and woke up back to his old self.

JAck did suffer some reactions to his shots and ended up taking him back to the doctor on Saturday. All looks clear and we'll just have to wait and see but he's eating us out of house and home and even put on weight between Tuesday and Saturday. His weight on Saturday was 14 lbs 3oz. That's right...little man gained 9oz in just a few days. I'm not sure why Jay thinks he wants another when Jack gets to be a teenager he's going to eat us out of house and home.

Big things are happening in the Egan house!

Our little man has started smiling at us. We've yet to be able to catch it on film but the frequency grows each day.

Jack had his first day of daycare on 9/27. Mom enjoyed having the day to herself to enjoy everything and run some errands. He'll continue going to daycare Monday, Wednesday and Friday till mom finds a job and then he'll go full time. We figured it would be a transition and we were fortunate to be able to ease him into it. We are also able to be there if he does get sick or have a rough time the first few weeks. So far so good. The teacher said he had a hard time sleeping which isn't suprising given he's use to sleeping at home. I did pull him out for a few hours to go to a playgroup and put him back in. Wednesday he'll be in there all day.

Our little man is 1 month old already! My how time has flown. We've come from 5-10 mL of formula at a sitting to upwards of 6 oz (180 mL) per sitting!

Dexter and Stimpy are adjusting too, begrudgingly on their respective parts. Stimpy is still Stimpy and is more or less indifferent to Jack. He still needs and wants his cuddle time when he wants it though. Dexter love his little brother. He rushes to Jack's side when he's crying and lays in front of his room in the evening to protect him. He is, though, having a tough time adjusting to the amount of attention we can give him since Jack has commanded so much this first month.

Mom and Dad are doing better now as well. The first few weeks were certainly challenging, but also very rewarding. Once we discovered Jack had acid reflux and got him medication to help, he's felt much better. We're up to periods of 4-4.5 hours of sleep at a time but 2-3 hours is more consistent. Next month let's see if we can't get 4 consistent hours little man!

Jack has already been to a baptism (Reid Huling's where the picture with mommy below was taken) and to a first birthday party where he got a kiss from the birthday girl! Soon enough we know that'll be us taking Jack through some of his life's first milestones.

Weight: About 11 lbs 6 oz (on our home scale, which given our weight we know is WAY off)

We're still here!

It's been about a month since I posted last so I will fill you in what's happened since then.

Here is my 39 week picture

Here is what happened by 39 weeks 1 day

So you can see why the blog hasn't been updated.

We've gone though a ton of changes. We've had to adjust with waking up every 2 hours to feed Jack. I had a terrible recovery once we got home but thankfully Jay did almost everything so I could heal. I'm pretty sure he's a better mom than I am. Once we finally started to get use to the schedule Jack had us on we had to switch formulas and that completely threw us all over since he decided to become all backed up. After a few days and a trip to the pediatrician it finally resolved. Finally we have our latest test as new parents. During Grandpas visit Jack started to become really fussy and got progressivly worse as the week progressed. After some research and a few conversations from friends I realized he'd developed acid reflux. After taking him to the pediatrician once again he agreed with me. After spending a few evenings dealing with the worst crying I've ever heard come from a person his medicine finally started working and we have our little man back. He's been such a good baby since then.

38 Weeks

I'm officially on maternity leave. The doctor decided to pull me due to the headaches I've been having. Technically I'm a stay at home puppy and stimpy mommy till Jack gets here though. Now we're just waiting on Jack, and waiting, and waiting.

How far along? 38 Weeks.

Time to come out and play, Jack. You're just gaining weight in there and nobody likes a fatty.

Heartbeat 148

Countdown: 14 days

Exercise: Walking to get this kid out.

Stretch marks? Nope

Sleep: Eh. Thank god for Ambian.

Best moment this week: Doc pulled me so I don't have to work anymore. Jay started his new job.

Worst moment this week: Being 38 and it's 100 degrees outside. I now get pitty smiles from people.

Movement: Kicking the crap out of me but he's fine where he is.

Food Cravings? Blue raspeberry icee from Exxon.

Food Adversions: None really but I still never order chicken.

Gender: Duh

Belly Button in or out? It looks like my belly button went 3 rounds with Mike Tyson. How did it get black and blue?

What I miss: Bending over, not waking up in the middle of the night to pee. Do you know how hard it is to wake up on Ambian and pee??? Yeah, well it's hard.

What I am looking forward to: This alien coming out of me.

37 Weeks = Full Term

How far along? 37 Weeks = Full Term. Now, somebody get this kid out of me.

Jack is an estimated 7lbs but could be off by a pound +/-. He'll be bigger becuase he's my kid and he'll be a punishment for me being big. I hope he's got Jays personality at least.

Heartbeat 148

Countdown: 22 days

Exercise: That's a funny thought. Walking helps speed up labor but I'm also hoping to prove that sitting on the couch does too.

Stretch marks? I made it to 37 weeks and THEN I get one!!!! It's a cruel joke to do that to a woman

Sleep: Eh. Thank god for Ambian.

Best moment this week: Hospital bags are packed for me and Jack. And for those of you who are wondering I'm only taking 3.

Worst moment this week: Having to get up to go to work. I'm so over working but to be fair I've been done at work since June.

Movement: He's throwing a dance party in my belly at night.

Food Cravings? Blue raspeberry icee from Exxon. It's Jays fault for buying one. Thank god I didn't have gestionational diabeetes.

Food Adversions: None really but I still never order chicken.

Gender: Duh

Belly Button in or out? It's holding on for dear life.

What I miss: Bending over, not waking up in the middle of the night to pee. Do you know how hard it is to wake up on Ambian and pee. Yeah, well it's hard.

What I am looking forward to: This alien coming out of me.

36 weeks

We finished Jacks room. Check out the post below for a full view.

We had a sonogram this morning and I'll attach pictures later of the sonogram but for now you'll have to deal with ones of me.

Yeah, I'm huge. No shocker there.

Jay thinks I've dropped and I kinda agree. I had to explain to him what that means in the begining though. He thought the baby was dropping out of me which made him nervous. Then he got excited thinking that he'll come early which is NOT what it means. The RLP from last week isn't nearly as bad and there is room between the boobs and belly. A lot of women say they can breathe easier once their babies drop. Personally I haven't noticed a difference in the breathing dept. I'm all about pain at this point.

How far along? 36 Weeks. We're getting close.

Jack weighs and estimated 6lbs 5oz.

Heartbeat 138

Countdown: 29 days

Exercise: I can barely move at night. Exercise is what happens when I have to roll in and out of bed.

Stretch marks? Nope

Sleep: Eh. Thank god for Ambian.

Best moment this week: Finishing Jacks room. Yes, we got the furniture on Wednesday and finished the room on Sunday. Can we say determined? Anal? Nesting???

Worst moment this week: Dropping something on the floor and realizing it just wasn't worth the effort to pick it up. Thank goodness Jay is in full nesting mode and follows me around picking up things, taking the laundry out of the dryer and anything that requires me to bend over for longer than a mintue.

Movement: Slowing down a bit

Food Cravings? Everything that's bad for me. Jay complains but he still ate my donuts.

Food Adversions: My appetite is way down but I'll still eat anything.

Gender: Twigs and berries.

Belly Button in or out? My timer is still in.

What I miss: Bending over. Not having carpel tunnel. Huge amounts of preassure. Ugh, how can I do this for another month???

What I am looking forward to: Being done!

Jack's room is finally done

You might remember our "issue" with Jack's furniture. Well I'm happy to report that we received it on time and without damage. I'm so in love with it. It was cheaper than the original stuff and I like it so much more.

Here is his crib with his gorgeous bedding. Jay keeps saying it's Yankee stripes; whatever. He put the crib together so he can think whatever he wants.

See this thing on the wall? It looks like an alien but it's his video monitor. Yeah, that's right we're going to spy on him and when he gets older we're going to put a gps chip in him so he can't lie to us on where he's been. Do as I say, not as I did Jack.

Next, we have our uber comfortable chair. We ordered it and got it in in 2 weeks. Apparently the trees didn't have to be grown for that. Wanna know something else? See those shelves above the chair? I love those but the sentiment isn't felt by Jay. I'm pretty sure he loathes them. I have never heard him cuss so much before. REALLY Cuss. Way worse than when Notre Dame and Yankees lose. I sat watching TV in the living room because he was so frustrated hanging them. Jay also thinks that when we move that we should leave those shelves on the wall becuase he neither wants to get them off but doesn't want to deal with putting them up somewhere else again. I still don't have the heart to tell him I ordered another large one. Poor Jay.

Finally, we have the dresser. It's a pretty standard dresser, deep drawers, etc. I don't like or have room for a changing station so we put the changing station on top. A few of you might recognize Teddy and Grover from Jay's childhood. I doubt they will stay there since it's within firing range for Jack but I decided to leave them there for now. I'll find another spot where they won't get ruined later. The frame doesn't have a picture in it for now. We'll probably put a newborn picture in it later.

And the final product.

35/35!!!!!

I know this doesn't mean much to you but in the pregnancy world it's a neat little milestone. It means I am 35 weeks and have 35 days till my due date.

Our furniture is being delivered tomorrow....happy days!

Brooke took me shopping last Sunday and I spend a small fortune on everything else I needed. Did you know babies need so much??? Yeah..they kinda do. Geez. Discover card and I are now BFF's and we're thinking about going on vacation together becuase they love me so much.

I'll add pictures as soon as I get the room packed away and organized.

It's natures cruel joke that we start nesting. I want to clean and organize everything in site but I can barely move.

I had a doctors appointment this morning. Everthing is fine and my BP is normal but I don't remember what it was. I'm still measuring 2 weeks ahead which doesn't mean he's coming 2 weeks early, it just means I'm huge. We have a sonogram next week to find out how much he weighs and to see if he's still breach. We'll see.

How far along? 35 Weeks

Countdown: 35 days

Exercise: HAHA, that's funny. You realize it's 100 degrees out, not to mention the humidity?

Stretch marks? Nope

Sleep: I'm having some weird dreams.

Best moment this week: Telling the furniture people where they can stick it!

Worst moment this week: Finally giving up my car to Jay. I now drive his car becuase it's to hard for me to get out of mine. I'm not sure he's feeling the same mourning as I am.

Movement: We're starting opperation turn baby Jack!

Food Cravings? I still haven't gotten my ice cream cone.

Food Adversions: My appetite is way down but I'll still eat anything.

Gender: Definatly a boy by the techs comments.

Belly Button in or out? Innie but hanging on for dear life. Jay calls it a timer. When it pops out that means I'm done.

What I miss: Not knowing what round ligament pain is. OMG constant pain!

What I am looking forward to: The babys furniture being delivered on Wednesday and my obsessive organizing can begin.

Jack's New Baby Furniture

That's right, new baby furniture. Why you may ask? We'll.....you might remember this post.

At 18 weeks we had decided to purchase Jack's baby furniture from USA Baby asince they were having a great sale. They had indicated that the furniture could take up to 4 months to be delivered. This always made us a little nervous, but heck we loved the set and decided to roll with the punches. It's not like we didn't have time, right?

Fast forward to the past few weeks. Gina's been contacting USA Baby routinely and each time they had no answer as to when Jack's furniture would be delivered. Finally realizing how annoyed Gina was getting they offered a concession to appease us as and offered a credit for the delivery charge. Well, of course we took it. It's free money back to us. After another round of phone calls and dissapointments they offered the sales prices on all store items. The the news hit and were just told, "We just know it'll be soon; likely in the next delivery." Which by the way, it wasn't.

At this point Gina's patience was gone; well the little bit that she did have. We made the decision to move on. Really....5 months and no furnitre. We joked they were growing the trees for our crib. I'd also like to point out that our house was built in a shorter amount of time. Gina called them this morning to cancel. Since the sales rep couldn't make returns, a manager had to call us back. This is where it gets good folks so get your popcorn.

As expected the manager called back but wanted to let us know that they had magically found our furniture and could likely get it to us sometime this week. I guess in 5 months of Gina calling and waiting we get no where unless the thought of losing the sale finally makes furniture appear. Sorry folks you lost any standing from the pregnant one and we continued with the cancelation. They then decided to inform us that there is a 20% restocking fee. UMMM, WHAT? Question: How do you have a restocking fee when neither the customer (me) or the store (USA Baby) has the items being returned? I don't know either but if you come to find out let me know.

Through Gina's wonderful tone and barganing skills they dropped the restocking fee and we're anxiously waiting on the credit to magically appear much quicker than our original furniture order. Let's hope the credit takes less than 5 months but don't hold your breath.

We decided to head over to Buy Buy Baby and had the EXACT opposite experience that we had at USA Baby. We really love the store and the staff as they've always been extremely helpful and courteous to us in all of the purchases we've made with them. If you remember our glider is from there and was sitting in the store waiting to be brought home with in a week and a half of it's original order...keep in mind this was a custom piece too (nope it didn't take 5 months) The furniture was no different. We decided on a set fairly quickly. It appeases both Gina's taste and Jay's need for it to not topple over.

As you can see we picked the Stratton collection pictured above and to our surprise, we could have even taken it home today with us if we had owned a truck. Go figure, a quality set doesn't have to take 5 months to be built and delivered.

Overall, we're patiently/not-so-patiently waiting for our new set which is being delivered this Wednesday. We were able to give our business to Buy Buy Baby once again and have learned our lesson with USA Baby and will be certain to let everyone know of our experience should someone want to know what dealing with USA Baby is really like.

Seriously, who pisses off a pregnant woman?????

The holy grail of swings

Our swing was FINALLY delivered!

You want to know why I say Finally??? Because we ordered it over a month ago. This thing is kinda like the holy grail. You've seen pictures of it but never really seen it in person and don't know of anybody that has one.

Apparently it's "THE" swing to have. Betcha you didn't know there are "THE" things to have for a baby. Well there are and I didn't know that when we went to go buy one. I knew I wanted one with an AC adapter and that swung both ways. Babies either love or hate swings and most of the ones that hate swings is because they don't like the direction. I'm not patient enough to wait to see if Jack like a swing.

The specs read like a sports car:
4 seat positions
3 recline levels
Mommotion
Holds most Graco car seats so you don't have to take him out of his (not sure if he's sleeping why I would but whatever)
Seat doubles as a floor rocker.
MP3 player

Yes, you read that right. It has an MP3 player. Again, I didn't know or care about the MP3 player when I ordered it. Personally, I still don't care but it's a feature that is kinda cool and Jay seems to like it. I still like the idea of it moving in every direction possible.

Dexter isn't sure about it and he was really curious when we started the womb sounds. It'll be cute to see how Dexter and Stimpy react when we bring home Jack.

Our first scare

Yesterday I had my first scare of this pregnancy. I have truly had a text book example of pregnancy.

No morning sickness
No spotting
Perfect ultra sounds
Never had problems finding the heartbeat
No big jumps in weight gain
No gestional diabetes
Good iron (shocks me the most)

'Til yesterday.

I'll start off by saying I drink TONS of water so it was never a dehydration issue.

I was at work and kept having cramping pains. No biggie, I thought, since I figured I'm growing just as much in these last few weeks as I have this entire pregnancy. Well the pain continued and continued and continued. It didn't matter what position I was in or if I got up and walked around, they stayed. I went to go get lunch 3 blocks from my office, I had to stop half way for a breather becuase the pain got so bad. This wasn't constant pain...it was more like waves of pain.

I got back to the office and ate my food. I am, after all, pregnant and you can't put food in front of a pregnant lady and not expect me to eat it. BTW, it was a fruit and vegetable plate if you were wondering.

The pain didn't go away and the waves started getting worse. I will fully admit I have a high pain tolerance. I've put myself through things that I don't think a lot of others would. Actual pain doesn't bother me but this was starting to scare me.

I called my doctor's office nurse's line and left a message about what I was feeling. I figured I needed to be told to suck it up and it's just growing pains. She called back about 15 mintues later and she asked me a few more questions. Describe the pain. Is it menstral? Is it sharp? I told her the best I could and she advised me to come in and be monitored. This wasn't exactly what I wanted to hear but I told one of our bosses (who has kids and also got that worried look on his face) and left.

I called Jay on my way there and got there quickly. They did an exam and I wasn't dilating; which was good even if it turned out to be contractions. I really think she was looking for gold or oil up there, she was not gentle by any means!

Then they hooked me up to the NST, which is the non stress test machine, and was told to push the button when I felt him kick. It measures his heart rate and the muscles on my stomach. Luckily I was having minor contractions but they seemed to be fading which was the best news I could ask for right then and Jack's heart rate was perfect (of course).

Poor Jay knew I was going in for the test but didn't really understand why and I wouldn't let him come up there. It is suppose to the a NON STRESS TEST and having him there woudln't exactly make it a non stress test. Besides he had to sit through a meeting with two of the most annoying people put on the face of the earth. Payback I guess for me being in pain. I texted him saying I was fine which I'm sure only made him feel slightly better. If I really thought something was wrong I would have told him to come but there wasn't any reason for him to leave work just yet even though I know he really didn't want to be there.

I was sent home with instructions to put my feet up, bedrest, and drink lots of water. I went home and took a small nap and started feeling better. I did however wake up once in the middle of the night but was able to go right back to sleep.

What I did learn was what contractions feel like and I'm even less excited about delivering now. I also learned that as much as I hate being pregnant, I'm not ready and neither is Jack. He's still breech and needs some more time to flip and his lungs need to develop further. Plus we literally have nothing for him but clothes so far. But on a good note, this kid is styling.

34 Weeks

This is a bad example becuase Jack has decided to be a breach baby so he's sitting on his butt. Stubborn from the get-go just like his mom....wonderful.

This week his testicles are making their way down from his abdomen to his scrotum. (Some baby boys — three to four percent — are born with undescended testicles, but they usually make the trip down sometime before the first birthday.)

Your baby's fingernails now reach the end of the fingertips and may even curl over the tip, making a manicure one of the first things you'll need to do for your little bundle.

How far along? 34 Very LONG Weeks

Countdown: 43 days

Exercise: HAHA, that's funny.

Stretch marks? Nope

Sleep: Eh, thanks to Ambian it's decent.

Best moment this week: HELLLLOOOO....3 day weekend.

Worst moment this week: It was all pretty good.

Movement: Still in the same spot. I really hope he turns becuase I don't want a breach baby.

We have a carseat!

We finally decided on a carseat. We'd seen a few but weren't thrilled by the colors and yes I'm still vain enough to care about colors. You've met me, right?

We knew we wanted a Graco since it'd been rated the best.
We had several different options with them.
- The infant which is 5-22lbs and less than 29 inches tall
- 32 which is 5-32lbs and less than 32 inches tall
-35 which is 5-35lbs and less than 35 inches tall

Keep in mind that neither of us are concerned about weight since I won't be able to carry it once Jack reaches a certin weight anyway. I was more concerned with height.

I was a very long baby when I was born, yeah I was huge all around. And since Jay and I are both tall it's not out of the realm to assume we'd have a long baby.

We looked online and I fell in love with the Nolan pattern and located one for a great price. It was delivered while we were at the beach which was way faster than we'd ever thought. Who orderes something Moday night and it's delivered Thursday afternoon?

We're now searching for another base since I'm really trying not to pay 50-60$ for another base. Luckily I think we've found one from a friend that had a boy a little over a year ago.

32 Weeks

This week Jack weighs almost four pounds and could be up to 19 inches long. And though that's a head-to-toe length, Jack is actually back to a curled-up position. Jack is not head down yet from what I can tell but we still have a few weeks before we need to worry. I'm not exactly looking forward to being kicked in the ribs but then again being kicked in the bladder isn't fun either. Ever go from not having to pee to having to go in 5 seconds flat?

30 Weeks

Until now, the surface of Jack's brain was smooth. Now that little brain is taking on those characteristic grooves and indentations, which allow for an increased amount of brain tissue as your baby prepares for life outside your womb. Jacks bone marrow has taken over production of red blood cells (before, tissue groups and then the spleen took care of producing the blood cells). This is an important step for your baby, because it means he or she is better able to thrive on his or her own once born.

29 Weeks

Things are progressing along. I'm now seeing the doctor every 2 weeks. We scheduled a 3D ultra sound on the June 12 at 11:00a which will give us and idea what Jack will look like since his face is more defined than before. Dr. J will do a growth ultra sound at 36 weeks to find out how big he is. Hopefully the furniture will be delivered this month and the chair will be here at the end of July. Jay just couldn't wait and we've started buying some of the things for the nursery. Pack n Play is set up and we'll probably get the swing next. 28 Weeks

Jack's eyes are partially open now and can blink. Truly superior babies can actually wink. (OK, there is no way to prove that, but it's fun to imagine, no?) Jack can also now become a shiny, happy person as she has begun having rapid eye movement (Get it? REM? Shiny, happy person?? We'll be here all week.)

Her eyes have color now, too. It may not be the color he ultimately ends up with, especially if they're light gray or blue. The eyes typically don't settle on a final hue until nine months after baby is born. So when your mother-in-law says that the baby has her eyes, you can politely inform her that they'll most likely change soon. Sorry.

Your babe is downright chubby compared to a few weeks ago. Jack is about 15 inches long, about the length of an amusement park cinnamon-sugar-coated churro (yum!), and weighs 2 to 3 pounds.

How far along? 28 Weeks

Countdown: 85 days

Exercise: Walking and going to the pool.

Blood preasure: n/a

Gender: Don't act suprised...he's still a boy

What I miss: Margaritas

What I am looking forward to: Sex and the City movie!!!!

27 Weeks

Jacks lungs and immune system are maturing this week as baby prepares for his grand entrance. If he were born today he would have an 85 percent chance of surviving as his lungs are capable of breathing air (with medical assistance, of course).
